Namibia

Land of Contrast

From the moment you enter Namibia, the striking quality of contrasts is immediately evident. Starting with the grandeur of the Fish River Canyon, we head north to the Namib Desert, one of the oldest and driest places on earth. Here nature’s masterpieces are a photographer’s dream.

The towering dunes at Sossusvlei where the mood and colour of the ancient sands changes with the shifting winds and light are a highlight of any visit to the country. Moving along the west coast through the adrenalin town of Swakopmund we explore the rocky canyons of Damaraland where the free ranging black rhino and unique desert elephant are protected. Venture back in time on a walk with the Bushmen and a visit to a Himba settlement, an ancient tribe of semi-nomadic people.

Their skins rubbed with red ochre and dressed in animal hides, many Himba still live the traditional life style. Etosha is the most famous of the National Parks and is where a myriad of animals may be seen interacting only meters from your seats at the famous floodlit waterholes of Okaukuejo and Namutoni. Following the thin strip of land known as the Caprivi Strip we end our Namibian journey with the untouched wilderness of the Okavango and Kwando areas.

In addition to the excursions included in the itineraries, the following optional activities are available:

Canoeing the Orange River, sand boarding, quad biking, hot air ballooning, skydiving, dolphin & seal cruise, scenic flights.
