Currency:
The currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD) equal to 100 cents. The NAD is pegged at the same value as the ZAR and the South African Rand is currently acceptable in Namibia. Travellers can exchange foreign currency or South African Rands for Namibian Dollars on arrival at Windhoek International Airport or in commercial banks in Windhoek and Swakopmund. Banks are open from Monday to Friday 09h00-15h30 and Saturdays 09h00-11h00. Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard) are accepted in major towns but not in rural areas.

Entry requirements:
Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of
intended departure from Namibia. Entry into Namibia is permitted for a maximum duration of 90 days. Most Commonwealth and European countries (and the USA) are visa exempt. Please verify with your travel agent or consulate.

Electricity:

220 / 240 volts AC.  50Hz three pin 15 amp fused plugs.

Health:
No compulsory vaccinations required. Low risk Malaria areas north of Etosha, prophylaxis
recommended during the summer months (November - June) and along the Kavango River and in the Caprivi throughout the year.

Airport Tax:
Usually included in air-ticket price.
