Group Size is from four to sixteen travellers.

This tour is a lodge tour using three to four star lodges, all with private en-suite facilities. One staff member takes care of the driving and guiding and hosting the clients while on tour. All breakfasts and dinners are enjoyed in the lodges.

Itinerary

The tour starts with a pre departure meeting at 18h00 in the reception of the hotel. Overnight at Peermont Metcourt (or similar). (Accommodated. Dinner own account).

Departing Johannesburg after breakfast we proceed to the Lowveld to our accommodation overlooking the Sabie river. The afternoon can be spent relaxed in the extensive gardens or watching hippos, crocodiles and other wildlife congregate at the river. We visit Gods Window viewpoint for a spectacular view of the Kruger National Park. Immerse yourself in a feast of culture with a night of Shangaan dance and an unforgettable African Banquet. Overnight at Hippo hollow country estate (or similar). (Accommodated – B. Dinner own account).

The morning is spent viewing the spectacular Blyde River Canyon and Bourkes Luck Potholes, en-route to the famous Timbavati Private Game Reserve situated in the Greater Kruger National Park. Shindzela tented safari camp provides guests with a true safari experience in a private game reserve – an ideal way to make the most of your Kruger safari holiday. We enjoy morning game drives and afternoon bush walks in search of the many animals inhabiting the reserve. Overnight Shindzela Tented Camp (or similar). (Accommodated – B & D. Lunch on Day 4 included).

Up at sunrise we exit Timbavati and enter the Kruger National Park. A full day game drive is enjoyed as we traverse north, exiting the park through the Pafuri gate to our lodge in the Limpopo Province where we experience a taste of the local Venda culture. Day 6 we depart after breakfast for a full day cultural tour which includes a visit to a local village, school, clinic and a traditional lunch. Dinner is enjoyed in Venda style in the local village. Overnight Awelani Lodge (or similar). (Accommodated – B & D. Lunch on Day 6 included)

An early departure takes us 2 hours to Beit Bridge border post where we cross into Zimbabwe. Entering Zimbabwe we travel to our lodge located on the edge of the World Heritage site – Matopos National Park. The following day is spent on a historic trek to Rhodes grave and walks to renowned caves and Bushman paintings. Our lodge is set within the large granite boulders of the Matopos. Overnight Camp Amalinda (or similar). (Accommodated – B & D)

Travelling through Zimbabwe we arrive early afternoon to Hwange National Park. We enjoy a late afternoon open 4×4 vehicle game drive in the private concession bordering Hwange National Park. The following morning we enjoy another game drive in the concession and in the afternoon relax at the lodge or an optional game drive (own expense). Overnight Ivory Lodge (or similar). (Accommodated – B & D)

We arrive midday to Victoria Falls – without doubt one of the greatest and most spectacular sights in Africa (entrance own account). The days are free to browse the local markets and to experience the many optional activities on offer in the adrenalin capital of Africa including helicopter flights over the Falls, sunset boat cruise etc (own expense). Overnight A’Zambezi River Lodge (or similar). (Accommodated – B. Dinners own account)

Crossing into Botswana we travel to Kasane and our lodge situated on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wildlife and birdlife. The following day is spent on an early morning Game drive in Chobe National Park and a sunset Game viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River. Overnight Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar). (Accommodated – B & D)

This is the rainy season for Namibia & Botswana. Hot & humid with some days bright and sunny and others grey & wet with cooling afternoon thunderstorms.

April - June

DRY

Rainy season is over! Colorful and lush with clear blue skies. Moderate day temperatures with game starting to concentrate around permanent water as pans start to dry out.

July - September

BUSY

DRY

No rain with crisp, clear days around 25 degrees and night temperatures 0-10 degrees. Game viewing excellent and migratory birds start arriving in August. Best time for safari!

October

The driest month of the year with daily temperatures 30+ degrees. Excellent time for big game safaris.

November - December

QUIET

WET

Hot days with the start of the afternoon African thuderstorms. This is Calving season and good game viewing with many migrant birds present.
